Tasmania offers one of the most generous stamp duty concessions in Australia for first home buyers: a full exemption on all homes, both new and established, up to $750,000. This applies to contracts entered between 18 February 2024 and 30 June 2026. Tasmania also offers a 50% off-the-plan duty concession for all buyers. Combined with the $30,000 TAS FHOG for new builds, the total first home buyer package is substantial.

TAS Standard Stamp Duty Rates
TAS uses 7 progressive brackets with a $50 minimum duty. Rates range from 1.75% ($3,001-$25,000) to 4.5% above $725,000.
