This Privacy Policy explains how the operator of homestack.au (ABN 42 922 821 474) (“we,” “us,” “our”) collects, uses, stores, and discloses your personal information when you use homestack.au (“the Site”). We are committed to complying with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

2. to save your scenarios to your account if you choose to register;
3. to share your contact details with a licensed mortgage broker if you opt into a referral;
4. to send transactional emails related to your account, such as verification and password reset emails;
5. to monitor Site performance and usage patterns through Google Analytics 4;
6. to comply with our legal obligations.

We will not use your personal information for direct marketing unless you have explicitly opted in. We do not sell your personal information.

Each provider is bound by their own privacy policies and, where applicable, data processing agreements. We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle your data in accordance with the APPs.

Some of our service providers process data outside Australia, including in the United States. Where personal information is transferred overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it in a manner consistent with the APPs. By using the Site, you acknowledge and consent to this transfer. The countries where data may be processed are listed in section 4 above.

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. Measures include: encryption of data in transit (TLS/HTTPS); access controls on our database and infrastructure; and regular review of our security practices. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

• Calculator inputs: not stored server-side unless you save or share your results. Saved scenarios are retained while your account is active and deleted upon request.
• Broker referral data: retained for up to 7 years to comply with Australian tax record-keeping obligations.
• Account data: retained while your account is active. You can request deletion at any time.
• Analytics data: retained by Google in accordance with our Google Analytics 4 configuration and Google's own data retention policies.

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

1. access the personal information we hold about you;
2. request correction of inaccurate, out-of-date, incomplete, or misleading information;
3. request deletion of your personal information, subject to our legal obligations to retain certain records.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at contact@homestack.au. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request. There is no fee for making a request, but we may charge a reasonable fee for providing access if the request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.

9. Cookies and tracking

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) site-wide, which sets cookies (such as_gacookies) to distinguish visitors and measure how the Site is used. In addition to standard analytics data (page views, device type, browser, and approximate location derived from your IP address), GA4 receives custom events we send as you use the Site — including the property price and estimated total savings shown on your results, your selected state, and your scenario ID. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site retargeting pixels, or third-party profiling tools beyond Google Analytics.

We also use browser storage that is not a cookie: your signed-in session (Amazon Cognito) is held in your browser's local storage, and your wizard answers are held temporarily in your browser's session storage as you move through the calculator, clearing when you close the tab.

You can opt out of Google Analytics using your browser's cookie settings, an ad-blocking or privacy extension, or Google's Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Doing so will not affect your ability to use the calculator.

10. Children's privacy

The Site is not directed at individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected information from a person under 18, we will take steps to delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will publish the revised policy on the Site with an updated date. Your continued use of the Site after changes are published constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
